==Career==
Kurt Bundrock was born on 6 February 1917 in Berlin-Schöneberg. He joined the I. ''Gruppe'' of Zerstörergeschwader 1 (I./ZG 1 — 1st group of the 1st Destroyer Wing) as a radio operator on 1 May 1940. Together with the pilot Reinhold Knacke he participated in the Battle of France. Both of them transferred to night fighter force on 26 June 1940 and were assigned to the I. Gruppe of Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 (I./NJG 1 — 1st group of the 1st Night Fighter Wing). He participated in 37 of Knacke's aerial victories. ''Hauptmann'' Knacke was killed in action by the defence fire of a British bomber on the night of 3/4 February 1943. Bundrock was able to save himself with the parachute. He then became the radio operator of Werner Streib in June 1943.〔Obermaier 1989, p. 97.〕
